Kate's Class Descriptions

Summer Flowers

Beginning 1-2: No previous Yoga experience is necessary. Everyone is welcome to attend. This is an excellent choice for students who want to explore the fundamentals of Yoga as well as experienced practitioners who are looking for a review of the basics. We will explore the breath, alignment, and balance through the postures.

All Levels 1-3:  This is a mixed class designed to honor the needs of a wider spectrum of students.  This is an excellent choice for continuing practitioners who want to deepen their practice beyond the introductory stage. Inversions will be explored when suitable for each student.

Intermediate 2-3:  This class will emphasize strength and conditioning as well as flexibility and suppleness. We will continue to explore the inversions with special attention paid to healthful alignment in both headstand and shoulderstand. At least one year of prior asana practice is preferred.

Restorative Yoga:  A passive practice in which a practitioner rests in a supported posture for several minutes. Many props are used to create a comfortable, usually reclined position that will allow for a deep breath and encourage a quiet mind and nervous system.  Yogis of all levels will enjoy the rejuevenative benefits of this practice.

Partner Yoga:
A playful practice involving postures done with the use of our partner as a prop. We will explore beginner as well as some more challeging poses together. All are completely adaptable for those with particular body needs. Feel free to come solo or with a yoga buddy.

Core Class: This class explores the technique of Myofascial Release to open and tone in ways which were previously inaccessible.  We use a set of tools that allow us to "roll" the legs, hips, feet, back and shoulders. Practitioners can expect core strengthening as an emphasis.  Modifications will be given as needed.  This class is a semi-private ($15) and requires a one time props fee ($25) that will allow the participants to practice at home.
