“Obviously the newest thing in my life is my baby boy, Milo. Check out the details on his page which will be updated regularly. In order to help him adjust to my return to work, I will be modifying my Maternity Leave schedule.
I have already begun teaching private lessons. If you are interested in scheduling a session please call or email me. We can address particular poses or focus on a certain physical issue.
Also, I will begin teaching my Monday morning class at the Center in Capitola on the 19th of May. That Monday evening class at the Om Room will be a Restorative class taught by Tricia Larson. The following week, on the 26th, I will return to teaching the level 1 class. Check the Schedule page for exact times. I intend to return to teaching Sunday classes in June on the 1st. Lisa Garratt will continue to substitute those classes until then.
Upon my return to public classes I will begin to honor the teacher’s series passes bought with me in the past. More passes can be purchased at the following rates:
5 classes is $55
10 classes is $100
20 classes is $185
I look forward to reigniting our practice together!”
As previously mentioned, I will begin my Maternity Leave this month and continue through mid May. My final Tuesday evening class at the Community Studio will be this week 2/5 (due the rescheduling of a birthing class on the following Tuesday). Also, I will teach my last Sunday class at the Community Studio on 2/10 at which point both classes will be cancelled indefinitely. The final Om Room classes will be taught Sunday 2/10 and Monday 2/11. I will be teaching one more week of class at the Center until Monday 2/18. The following teachers have graciously agreed to teach these time slots while I am on leave. Please keep in mind that you can buy teacher's series through these instructors that can be used during my absence and at any one of their other fantastic classes in town. Any passes bought through me prior to my leave will be honored upon my return. These passes do not have an expiration and will be on record.

Monday 2/18 through 5/12 at the Om Room 5:45-7pm level 1 Tricia Larson http://omroom.com/biographies.html
I trust you will enjoy these amazing women and what they have to offer on so many levels. Please feel free to email me with questions or concerns that you may have about the class schedule. Also, keep in mind that although I may not be teaching publicly during this time, I will be seeing private clients when it is appropriate before and after the birth. If you just have to "have a class" with me, try a private session now to begin your own home practice with a lesson designed just for you. I'm still offering a $10 discount on the first lesson, that makes a one on one session $50 for an hour. I will continue to make myself available via email to answer questions during my leave as well.

Happy Holidaze Yogis!
I hope you are diving deep into yourself as we soak in the darkest days of the year. However, I do look forward to the Winter Solstice and the coming of the Light! It's time to open ourselves to renewal.
To reflect the celestial goings on I will be completing offering massage this week before heading out of town for a few days to celebrate with family. In the New Year I will be offering personal organizing and Feng Shui for your home. In addition I am offering a $10 discount on a one hour private yoga lesson to develop a home practice. These are wonderful ways to start the coming Year with healthful intentions. Please feel free to call or email me with questions or to schedule an appointment. For further details, see the previous entry below. Of course gift certificates are available for those of you wanting to give the gift of space in the body or the home environment.
Please note the updated schedule for the Holidays to come. The last Thursday morning class I will offer at the Om Room is on the 20th. I have postponed all classes on Monday, December 24th through the 29th, as I will be out of town. I WILL be teaching both classes on Sunday the 30th and the morning class at the Center on Monday the 31st. However, both evening classes on Monday the 31st and Tuesday the 1st will be postponed. I will resume my regular schedule on Sunday the 6th.
I plan to continue teaching classes Sundays, Mondays and Tuesdays until mid February. While I am on maternity leave, I have arranged for a few highly qualified and extremely amiable instructors to teach for a few months. I plan to return to public teaching in mid May. Keep in mind, I will continue to offer private lessons and organizing assistance while not scheduled to teach publicly, so feel free to ask about appointment times available throughout my leave of absence.

I am pleased to return to some structure after
the Holidays. Just in time to come down with a cold. I apologize to those of you who may have attempted to attend either of
my classes today. I was able to reach a few by phone of
course, but not able to get a sign on the door at the morning class.
Please excuse any confusion. On the bright side I am already
feeling better. I plan on teaching this Sunday the 13th.
Lot's of rest, soup, laughter, and restorative
yoga does the trick every time. Not to mention an incredible acupuncture
treatment from Carmen McIntyre to begin
the healing. I would like to leave you with a few suggestions
if you find yourself at home with a cold. Sleep and have
restful thoughts. Consider yourself on the road to healing
rather ten labeling yourself as "sick". Make
yourself nourishing food and then spend a luxurious time reveling in
the flavor. Watch a funny movie with someone you love (even a
favorite pet will do). Laughter helps reduce stress and boosts
the immune system. Do some calming yoga stretches that soothe
you with candles and silence in a warm room. Suggested poses:
-supta baddha konasana; reclined
cobbler's pose (lying on your back, knees wide apart, soles
of the feet together, use a pillow under each knee)
-viparrita karani; legs up
the wall (lying down with both legs up the wall, legs
together or spread wide apart, use a folded blanket under your
sacrum/ tailbone)
-jathara parrivartanasana; reclined
twist (lie on your back, arms wide out to the sides, send
bent legs to the left first, place a pillow between your legs,
switch sides)
- mandukasana; frog pose (sitting on the shins with the knees wide apart, take the hips to
the heels and the forehead to the floor with hands stacked
supporting the face)
-savasana; corpse pose (lying on your back in deep relaxation, support the low back with a
pillow under the knees)
Any of these poses can be done for 5-10
minutes. Use a blanket for warmth as needed. The most
important idea is to stay present with sensation. If uncomfortably
arises, shift to find comfort or move on to another pose. This
is important work during times of illness when we typically try to
avoid the pain sensation by taking symptom relievers and continuing
on with our life as if nothing is happening out of the
ordinary. Stop what you doing and focus on being. This
will also help to prevent contagious exposure time. In
particular a public yoga class is not the place for someone who has
a contagious cold or flu. Most yogis are coming to class to
heal, please respect the intention of others. Take the cue
from the body to relax at home and nourish yourself. Please
feel free to email me with questions. I have a request to
create a travel yoga routine and will be posting that soon.
Until I see you next...be well.
