11/27/06

I trust everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving.  We all have so much for which to be grateful.  I am of course honored to have each of you as students who allow me to live my passion.  I love my work, truly!

As of today, I have  begun a long term substitution for Vanessa Ewing through the end of January.  The Monday 3:30-5pm class is a level 1-2 taught in the Iyengar tradition.  I look forward to working with some of my current students and meeting some new folks.  Vanessa will return to her regular schedule in February of 2007.

Regarding the Holidaze.  I will not be holding classes on either 12/25 or 1/01.  These days fall on a Monday this year so be aware that I will be canceling all 3 classes on each day.  I will be out of town from Friday 12/22 to Wednesday 12/27.  Please stay updated for class substitutions for Sunday the 24th and Tuesday the 26th.  If you have any teacher preferences please feel free to email me or let me know in person.

Peace.

11/14/06

I am delighted to announce two NEW classes that I will be offering over the next 5 months (through April) as a long term substitution for the wonderful Jim Gallas.  I will continue the mixed level (1-3) classes both Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 9:30-11am at the Body & Soul Yoga Studio on Squid Row (Downtown Santa Cruz!!!).  Please be sure to check the directions page for further details on the location.  Be aware that this class will be adapted for all those attending from beginner to intermediate.  I look forward to teaching at this studio and I’m sure you will love the atmosphere as well.  Please feel free to email me with further questions.

Peace.

10/23/06

I hope you are all enjoying this Indian summer we are having!

Sadly, I must announce that I am indefinitely canceling my Friday classes at the Veteran’s Hall (last classes 10/27). The time of day (12:30-1:30pm) for the Mommy and Me class did not seem to work for many of you.  As well, I received feedback that the class would preferably be longer (about 90 minutes).  I am occasionally substituting for Treea Clements for her Wednesday Mommy and Me Class at the Pacific Cultural Center .  That time frame (10:30am-12pm) and location (Seabright) seems to work well.  I will look for a similar time perhaps on Friday there to create a new class in the future.  Also, I will be canceling the Friday 11am-12:15pm level 1-2 class.  I am making time in my schedule for further developing my massage practice and musical interests.  The final classes will be held on Friday the 27th of October (this week).  I will miss the dedicated students, but I hope to see you all in another class soon.  Please check the updated schedule.

I hope you will try out Thai Yoga Massage in the future.  I am also currently taking a Barefoot Shiatsu Course with the wonderful Jim Gallas over at the Twin Lakes Community College .  I recently participated in a Massage-A-Thon at the school to benefit young girls in Guatemala .  We raised $3500 which will all go directly toward their education.  If you are interested in participating in the charitable contribution, you can purchase gift certificates through the fund for a massage with me or choose from several other body workers.  Please email me to express your interest.

I have been receiving wonderful feedback regarding the chanting at the end of each class.  Thank you for all your supportive words and praise.  I am inspired to continue to learn more to share with you.  As many of you may know, my fiancee, Dan Robbins, is a fantastic bass player and often plays locally.  If you are interested in joining me as part of the audience let me know and I will gladly place you on an email distribution list for his shows.  I am truly inspired by his musical talent and hope to collaborate with him in the future.  I will keep you updated.

Peace.

9/13/06

Well, I'm off to EARTHDANCE!  This is a highly conscious festival (earthdance.org) held all around the world to encourage powerful connections and growth toward a peaceful world through music and dance.  My fiancé (YES, we are announcing our engagement!!!) Dan Robbins will be playing with Tranzendance at the Festival.  I look forward to coming home with new inspiration to share with you all.  Until then I have a few class postponements and substitutions as follows:

My Dedicated Students,

I have found a substitute teacher for the 5:45-7pm level 1 Om Room class this Monday (2/6) evening.  The amazing Kelly Blaser will be gracing the class with her presence!  Kelly was a favorite teacher of mine for some time and has had a tremendous influence on my teaching.  I hope you will enjoy her as much as I do.  Please let her know about specific injuries or other physical symptoms you may have before class.  Also, I would greatly appreciate it if you pay her a drop in rate.  If however you must use the teacher’s series pass please know that she will be reimbursed (of course).  Please note I will be canceling Tuesday (2/7) class at the Community Studio on Western Drive .  I hope to see you all back in class by Thursday evening.  Please check my website prior to class to be sure I am feeling better by then.

I also have an update for you regarding the scheduled time off I will be taking.  I will be unavailable from Friday the 17th through Tuesday the 21st.   I will be finding substitute teachers for a few of these classes. Please let me know if you have any preferences.  Classes at the Veterans Hall and The Community Studio will be cancelled during that time.  Please stay tuned to my website or your email for details over the next week.  Thanks for all your sweet emails.  You are all so wonderful.

Thank you to Jonathon Collins for opening the Studio this am for all those of you who showed up to the Center for Yoga and Personal Growth.  What an angel!  I’m happy to hear you all got a practice.  I as well had a restorative practice at that time, so we were together in spirit.

Hey Folks!

Well I have officially caught my first cold of the year!  I need to CANCEL my Monday (2/6) morning 10:30am-12noon Iyengar 1-3 class at the Center for Yoga and Personal Growth as I was unable to find a substitute.  Please pass on the information if you are in contact with any other regular students.  I will update my website with further information regarding the substitution of other classes while I am ill.  Also, be sure to check back soon regarding some scheduled time off over the next week or so.  Of course, I will be updating my website as soon as I have concrete plans established.

Thank you for your understanding. Please accept my apologies for the late notice; I do my best to be in my top health in order to be present for the public classes I have scheduled.  I guess I’ll have to admit to being human and not the goddess I imagine myself be.

Hello all and Happy New Year!

As many of you know I am back to teaching my current schedule.  As well, I have started a NEW ongoing class at the Community Studio on Western Drive .  This is a level 1-3 class and will be held on Thursdays from 5:30 to 7 pm.  Modifications will be given as needed for each level.  I hope you will join me in this beautiful studio to deepen your practice and continue your commitment to well being and transformation.

Unfortunately, I will NOT be holding the Restorative Series in the month of January.  I was unable to attain the minimum number of students necessary to offer the class.  We can certainly try for the month of February, so start spreading the word now.  I would like to propose the same day and time; Wednesday nights 7:30-8:30 pm at the Center for Yoga and Personal Growth in Capitola.

I will be teaching the Mom and Child class as an ongoing series for the next few months.  The class is held from 9:30-10:30am at One Yoga Center at the Veterans Hall.   Please feel free to drop in and or pay for a series of classes at a discounted rate.

As many of you know, I have recently raised the rates for my multiple class passes. The prices are as follows: 5 classes for $50, 10 for $90, and 20 for $170.  Be mindful that I still have gift certificates available for special occasions and loved ones.  Please feel free to discuss this option with me before or after class.

For those of you interested in the essential oils I have been utilizing in class please visit the website at YoungLiving.us.  My member number is 838255 if you would like to order for yourself.  Be sure to click on the name of the oil in the order form to find a link to single oils used in the blends and practical uses for the oils.

Please feel free to check my website for further details.  I hope you are well and look forward to seeing you in class soon.

Peace.

Namaste!

Women with Wings is the acapella choir of which I am a grateful member.  We had a very successful performance on Saturday the 3rd at the Cayuga Vault.  There will be another performance on Wednesday the 21st at 8pm to celebrate the Winter Solstice.  They are planning a large ritual with many performers including Dis Moi, Mir and a Co. and fire dancers, etc.  It will be held at 8pm at the 418 Project on Front St.  Please feel free to email me for more information.

Peace.

Namaste!

I am pleased to announce that I will be singing at the Inner Light Ministries service this Sunday the 13th at 10:45 am (the meditation session begins at 10:15am).  Women with Wings is the accapella troupe I've been practicing with lead by Heather Houston of Dis Moi.  Unfortunately this means I will have to CANCEL the 10-11:30am level 2-3 class at the Community Studio on Western Drive for that day only.   I will, however, be teaching the level 1 class at the Om Room at noon.  I look forward to seeing a few familiar faces as always either in the crowd during class or in the congregation at the Church (non-denominational), or BOTH!

Please also be aware that I must CANCEL the Friday 11-12:15pm class at One Yoga Center in the Veteran's Hall this week (11/11).  Due to Veteran's Day they will be having a Memorial Service and the studio will closed.  However, the Mommy and Me class has special consideration due to the fact that it is a 4 week long running series and takes place in the early morning (9:30-10:30am).   We will be meeting but the ability to linger after class will be diminished.  Please be aware of the others in the building.

Also, please remember the Restorative Series begins this week on Wednesday the 9th.

I look forward to our next endeavor together.  Peace.

Hello all!

I am currently assisting my dear friend and fellow yogini Melissa at her home as she and her husband prepare to birth their baby.  What a little pumpkin coordinating it on such a magical day!

I will have Nancy as a substitute for me at the Center for Yoga and Personal Growth this morning from 10:30am-12noon.  As well, I have CANCELLED my 5:45-7pm class at the Om Room as it is such short notice to find someone for that time slot.  I’m sure most of you will be having fun with the children as they “Trick or Treat” at your doorstep.  Please see me tomorrow night 5:45-7pm at the Community Studio on Western Drive (check my website for details).   Also, please remember the Restorative Series begins next week on Wednesday the 9th.

I hope you all had a fun an safe weekend.  I look forward to sharing exciting news very soon about the brand new yogi baby.

Howdy Folks!

I’m writing to let you know that I will be out of town On Sunday the 30th.  I have CANCELLED my level 2-3, 10-11:30am class at the Community Studio on Western Drive .  Please note that I have arranged for Victor Dubin to substitute for me for the 12noon-1:15pm level 1 class at the Om Room.  Otherwise, all of my regularly scheduled classes are in effect.  Be mindful of the time change (the clocks are set back one hour) lest you be early to class.  Of course there is always the Natural Bridges Park to stroll around in.  We are so lucky!  For those of you who may be interested, I will be substituting for Victor the following week Monday November 7th.  It will be nice to see some familiar faces for the level 2 class that night from 7:30-9pm.

If you are looking forward to the Restorative Series coming up in November, please call or email me to pre-register.  The class will be held for 4 weeks on Wednesdays from 7:30-8:30pm at the Om Room.  The series is $40 or $12 drop in for those who are unable to commit for the full run (9th, 16th, 23rd, 30th).  Please note there is no class the first week of the month (2nd) as another activity has been planned at the studio for that evening.

For those who are interested in the Mom & Child Series, it will continue in November.  It will be held as a 3 week session on Fridays (4th, 11th, and 18th) from 9:30-10:30am at One Yoga Center (Veterans Hall).  The series is $30 or $12 drop in for those who can only attend sporadically.  We’ve been having fun and receiving much nourishment through the practice and community connection.  Please bring photos of Halloween fun with you the first Friday and we will share some stories!

Happy Halloween!!!

October 2nd, 2005

As I will be seeing Mr. B.K.S. Iyengar speak tomorrow at Davies Symphony Hall in San Francisco, I have CANCELLED my  Monday 5:45-7pm class at the Om Room (10/3 only).  As you can imagine it was difficult to find a qualified substitute teacher that was not already attending or filling in for someone else.  However, I look forward to seeing a few of you at the Tuesday evening class at the Community Studio (on Western Drive).

I am finalizing the happenings with the Mom & Child series so stay tuned.  Likely, it will be held on Friday mornings from 9:30-10:30am at the Veterans Hall.  It seems the time fits into nap schedules a little better.  Please feel free to email me any requests, I am always up for more input.  Until next time.

September 14th, 2005

I will be out of town Saturday and Sunday (17th and 18th).  Please note that Victor Dubin will be substituting both of my classes at the Om Room.   For those of you who have yet to take a class with him, you are in for a treat.  With all of my regularly scheduled classes will being held, I look forward to seeing you all soon.

In Loving Kindness.

September 6th, 2005

I have decided to hold the Mommy & Me and Mom &Tot series as a combined class for the month of September entitled Mom & Child.  Please join us 2:30-3:30pm Thursdays at the Vets Hall for 4 weeks of  some seriously playful yoga.  We will have a mix of infants and toddlers who have some "experience" in the yogic arts and of course their Moms (Dads are welcome too)!  Please feel free to bring your own mats or use the props provided.  The cost is $12 drop in or $40 for the series.  If you have any questions please call (588-4577) or email me and I will happily return your inquiry.  Otherwise, I hope to see you there.

Peace.

August 31st, 2005

I did not receive enough pre-registrations to hold the Mommy and Me and Mom and Tot classes as a 5 week series.  I will attempt to get enough folks signed up to begin next week as a 4 week series instead.  Please call or email me if you are still interested and I will keep you informed as to the happenings.   I really love these classes and look forward to engaging with the children and sparking their interest in the practice early in life.

For those of you who have been attending my Sunday level 2-3 class at the Om Room, I will be switching that class over to the Western Drive Studio in October.  The 10-11:30am classes will continue at the Om Room as is until that time.  Please feel free to check the schedule on this site for a link to directions to the new studio.

Be well.

I'll be out of town on Sunday the 28th.  Talya Lutzker will be substituting both of my classes at the Om Room.  I will be teaching class on Monday evening but have cancelled  the class on Tuesday the 30th.  When we start up again on Tuesday September 6th the Western Dr. class will meet from 5:45 to 7pm.  Hopefully this will allow those of  you with day jobs to attend.  Hope to see you then.

The Mommy and Me and Mom and Tot September 5- week series at the Vets Hall are coming up starting on  Thursday the 1st and Friday 2nd.  The cost is $50 for the series or $12 drop in per class.  Please pre-register as I need a minimum number of 5 participants to hold the classes.  Feel free to call or email me with a commitment.

Peace.

August 4th, 2005

Hey folks!  I am announcing the official end to the Yoga at the Lighthouse class.  Due to odd weather conditions and summer vacations the attendance was low or null.  I look forward to trying it again next summer.  Remember, you can always do your own practice wherever you are inspired!

Also, a note regarding the Mommy and Me class at the Vets Hall.  I have postponed the Thursday class (2:30-3:30) for the month of August.  We will resume in September at the same time and place.  I am continuing the Mom and Tot class on Fridays 9:30-10:30.  Please feel free to join me for that at the Vets Hall.

Enjoy the lovely weather!

July 24th, 2005

I am enjoying some time off in LA.  It sure is warm down here at 8am, I hope you all are enjoying the beautiful Santa Cruz weather.

I will be having Sean Hall substitute both Om Room Sunday (7/24) classes as well as the Tuesday (7/26) class at the 1102 Western Drive studio.  Amey Mathews will me teaching the Monday (7/25) evening class at the Om Room.  I will return to all of my regularly scheduled classes on Thursday (7/27).  I look forward to seeing a few of you in my Mommy and Me class at the Veterans Hall and others at the Lighthouse class.

Be peaceful,

Kate

July 12th, 2005

Summer has been so amazing thus far!  I hope you are all enjoying this great weather...we are so blessed!

I am off camping for a few days (7/12-7/14).  All of my regularly scheduled classes are cancelled on these days.  For those of you expecting to see me at the Om Room on Wednesday to sub for Victor, I have arranged for Sean Hall to substitute instead.  I hope you will enjoy his kind energy as much as I do.  I'll be back to my regularly scheduled classes on Friday (7/15), so I hope to see you then.  If for some reason you were lost in the mix and showed to a class I have cancelled, please accept my humble apologies and allow me to offer you your next class for FREE.  Again, I regret any inconvenience to your schedules and look forward to seeing you soon.

Peace,

Kate

May 18th, 2005

What a packed ten days it has been!  Of course, I have returned to my regular schedule (which has been updated on this site).  Shortly thereafter I found myself with my first (hopefully the last) migraine headache on Monday.  Many apologies to those of who were surprised to see a new face teaching class on Monday night.  I am grateful to Emily for coming in at such short notice to rescue class that evening.  I look forward to seeing you all very soon and have, again, returned to classes as usual.  Please join me at my two NEW classes Tuesday 5:30-7pm at 1102 Western Drive and Thursdays 5:30-6:30pm on the Lighthouse Lawn.  If it's raining the class is canceled.  If the sky is threatening rain but no drops have yet fallen, join me and let's see what happens...

Peace.

May 8th, 2005

Happy Mother's Day!  I certainly hope that each of you has a wonderful time celebrating your Momma!  What a superb gift it is to be a portal for another being to emerge into this world.  We must all respect the tremendous capacity it tales to nurturea child into a fantastic human.

Unfortunately, I must cancel the Sunday classes for today.  I was unable to find a qualified teacher who was free from the day's celebration.  I guess everyone has a Mom!  Do remember that Victor Dubin will be teaching the Monday evening class tomorrow.  I'm sure some of you are seriously in need of a stretch.  I'll be back to my schedule as of Tuesday.  I look forward to seeing those of you interested in the Western Drive evening class at the first class this week!

Peace.

May 6th, 2005

Many apologies to those of you who were at the Om Room on Monday the 2nd for the 5:45-7pm class.  I was unable to find a substitute teacher with such short notice.  (I left town abruptly to be with family for my grandfather's passing and participate in the funeral services.)

I have, as well, been having quite a bit of difficulty finding an appropriate sub for the Friday class at the Veterans Hall today.  I have for this reason decided to cancel the class and resume on Friday the 13th.  I am still attempting to locate an instructor for the Sunday classes at the Om Room.  Please check this site in the next day or so to assure that I have indeed been successful in finding a replacement prior to heading to class on Sunday.  Another idea would be to hang with your mom or at least give her a call (Mother's Day!).  I have arranged for Victor Dubin to teach the Monday evening class on the 9th.  All other NEW classes including the Lighthouse class (on the lawn right in front of "the lane") on Tuesday the 10th and the Thursday evening class (5/12) at 1102 Western Drive (close to the University) will be held.

For those of you unfamiliar with 1102 Western:  You can park on the street and walk down the driveway to the private house.  Walk past the double French doors in front to the door on the right side of the house.  Up the stairs (on the right) you'll find the amazing space where we will practice together.   Most of the residents will be attending the class so don't be shy about asking for help if you get lost.  They don't bite!

As for the Mommy and Me class being taught on Thursdays at the Veterans Hall from 2:30-3:30pm, please call me with further questions at (831)588-4577.  We will begin the ongoing class this week (5/12).  I look forward to seeing you and your little one for some seriously playful asana practice!

Peace to you all and many blessing to your momma for giving birth to your wonderful self years ago!

February 4th, 2005

As many of you know, I am currently in Cleveland, OH visiting with my very ill grandfather.  What a humble and beautiful man.  I am learning so much from his quiet grace.

I am gone through Saturday the 12th.  I will return to teaching on Sunday the 13th. I have arranged for substitute teachers for most of my classes but not all.  Please note the following:

Friday 2/4 at Vets Hall 11-12:15pm level 1-2 Talya Lutzker

Sunday 2/6 at Om Room 10-11:30am Vinyasa 2-3 Talya Lutzker

Sunday 2/6 at Om Room 12-1:15pm Hatha 1 Talya Lutzker

Monday 2/7 at Om Room 5:45-7pm Hatha 1 Amey Mathews

Wednesday 2/9 at Vets Hall 11-12:15pm level 1-2 CANCELLED

Wednesday 2/9 at Om Room 4-5pm Kid's Yoga postponed until 2/16

Wednesday 2/9 at Om Room 8-9pm Restore postponed until 2/16

Friday 2/11 at Vets Hall 11-12:15pm level 1-2 Nana Montgomery

I miss you all and I'm looking forward to finding a consistent flow of classes upon my return.  I am hoping to create a new early evening class on Thursdays (level 1) and perhaps a solid level 2 class on Tuesdays again in the early evening or perhaps the morning.  Feel free to give me feed back regarding times and spaces in town.

While the Retreat to Thailand is still being offered by Daniella Cotreau, I will not be co-leading the trip to Thailand this year due to low registration numbers and these current circumstances.  Contact daniella@BodyTempleHealth.org  if you are interested and she will be able to answer any questions regarding the spaces still available.  Please keep this amazing adventure in your thoughts for next year around the same time.

Also, keep your ears open for a potential Yoga Retreat in Mexico in the fall (end of October).  Thank you for your patience and continued support.

Namaste.

January 19th, 2005

As I am recovering from a chest cold, I regretfully have to cancel my Kid's Yoga and Restorative classes, yet again.  I will add these postponed classes to the end of the series and will start up again next week and continue until February 9th.  Many apologies for any inconvenience.  If you have signed up for the series and for some reason these dates don't work in your schedule please let me know and I will arrange a refund or another alternative.  Thank you for your understanding.

Join me for the Thailand Retreat to rejuvenate your body, mind, and spirit!

Blessings.

January 13th, 2005

Well as many of you know, I have just recovered from a stomach flu and missed a few of the series classes scheduled for this past week.  I will simply add a "make up" class to the end of the series.  The Mommy and me class will now end February 1st and the Kid's Yoga class as well as the Restorative class will now end February 2nd.  The Yoga for Bigger Bodies series is still on target to end January 23rd.   If for some reason this does not coordinate with your schedule, please let me know.  If you were not called or emailed about these cancellations, please send me your contact information, as I would like to have my records updated.

Look forward to seeing you all soon...

January 3rd, 2005

Namaste,

Happy New Year to all!  I hope you had a wonderful Holiday Season.  And now back to reality...

As we all begin to settle in for a new year ahead, we can find our ground and center through our practice. I have concluded my second teacher training under the tutelage of Kofi Busia, an amazing teacher and scholar and dedicated yogi. I will be returning to my regularly scheduled classes with a more consistent attendance. I have canceled my classes at the Pacific Cultural Center due mostly to the late hour of the classes.  My schedule has been updated so check it out. I am planning to increase the number of early evening classes I teach in the Spring semester after the trip to Thailand.

Of course, I would love to have you attend the Thailand Retreat The retreat space the Sanctuary was luckily undamaged by the disaster in the Bay of Bengal. I am pleased to offer any information to those of you who are interested in going. It should prove to be truly an amazing adventure. Daniella will be leaving any day now with her partner Joseph to embark on a season at the retreat center and spa as the on site yoga instructor and nutritional counselor. I'm sure they will keep us updated on the happenings there while they soak in the rays.

My new 4 week series are beginning this week.  Including Yoga for Bigger Bodies which had a nice turn out yesterday and should continue to be a strongly attended class.  I am looking forward to my Mommy (Daddies welcome too) and Me class tomorrow morning. We will run from 10-11am through the 25th of February. Babies 6 weeks to just before walking are welcome.  I hope to see some of the faces from last season.  Please keep your eyes open for a Mom and Tot class (walking to 3 yrs.) in the near future.  Also, the Kid's Yoga is back on Wednesdays as is the Restorative class in the evening.  All are held as a special series, so if you miss the first week you can pay the drop in rate of $12 per class.  Thanks for your interest in the practice and my teaching.  I look forward to working with you soon.

December 6th, 2004

Namaste,

Happy 2nd Anniversary Om Room!  I'm so thrilled to be a part of the Om Room crew.  I think it is the most beautiful studio in town with lots of great props and fantastic instructors.  Of course the owners take the cake or bring it as the case may be.  I hope everyone had fun at the party on Sunday.  Thanks for being here Victor and Jocelyn!

I now have GIFT CERTIFICATES available for sale.  Please email me or see me after class to buy the gift of Yoga for someone you love.  Happy Holidays!

Blessings.

November 28th, 2004

Namaste,

Hope your Thanksgiving weekend was fabulous!  I am truly grateful to each of you for your trust and support.  I am living a beautiuful dream...

This weekend (Sunday December 5th) I will be completing my teacher training in the Iyengar Style with ,my beloved teacher Kofi Busia.  I have arranged for Daniella Cotreau to, yet again, substitute both classes.  I received some excellent feedback regarding Daniella.  For those of you who liked her teaching and delightful spirit, I invite you to join us in tropical southern Thailand February 27th through March 6th for a 7 day long yoga retreat.  A few of you took advantage of the initial early bird registration by 11/25.  Be sure to save $100 before January 15th by telling us you're in!

I'll be continuing my Mommy and Me class (Tuesdays) and Kid's class (Wednesdays) as 4 week series beginning in January.  Yoga for Bigger Bodies is back by popular demand!  A brand new series will begin in January on Sundays from 1:30 to 2:30pm at the Om Room.  Runs January 2nd through the 23rd.  Please call with any questions at 588-4577.

I look forward to seeing you all soon.  Enjoy the Holy Daze!

November 17th, 2004

Namaste,

This weekend (Sunday 21st) I will be in one of my final teacher training workshops.  I have arranged for Daniella Cotreau to substitute the class.  She and I are leading the Journey to Thailand Adventure together.  So get a taste of her style before signing up for the retreat.  The first early bird registration deadline is on the 25th of November.

Treat yourself to a "mini getaway" experience and sign up for my 4 week Restorative Series.  I'll be guiding a class through a series of postures to sooth the body and calm the mind.  Stay relaxed this holiday season with a deeply rejeuvenative yoga practice.  Held at the Om Room School of Yoga (Westside) Wednesday 8-9pm.  The full series is offered for $40 and begins On December 1st continuing through the 22nd.  Pre registration is strongly recommended, pease call me at 588-4577 to sign up.

All folks who attend my Sunday Classes take note.  The weekend of Thanksgiving I will be teaching on Saturday(27th) and Victor will be teaching on Sunday(28th).  Either way, you will get one of us.

Just a reminder, we will have a make up class on December the 7th for the Mommy and Me Series.  Also, the last Kid's Class is on December 8th and no class on the 24th (Thanksgiving Week).  Be aware that Tuesday the 30th, I will be having Carolyn Vitale substitute the PCC class from &:30 to 9pm.

Be well.

October 17th, 2004

Namaste,

The Kid's Yoga Class at the Om Room has been postponed due to a low turn out last week.  We sure did have fun though!  If I get enough calls from students that are interested I'd like to continue it as a 6 week series starting on the 27th.  I need 6 kids minimum to sign up for the entire series ($60), then we can go ahead with the class. Again, please call if your child is interested at 588-4577 to sign up for the series.

October 9th, 2004

Namaste,

Fall has been a whirlwind of new possibilities and continued movement inward on the path.  The Lighthouse class has been canceled due to the earlier setting of the sun these days and  blustery conditions.  We'll start it up again in the Spring, but in the meantime, check out other classes I'm teaching around town.

I'll be continuing my teacher training with Kofi Busia this month.  Tomorrow the 10th Talya Lutzker will be substituting for me at the Om Room.  I hope you enjoy her kind and gentle spirit as she guides you through your practice.  On October 31st, Phoenix Artemisia will give you a powerfully sacred taste of the practice as she takes you through the Sunday classes.  Remember, Daylight Savings Time ends that Sunday so set your clocks back an hour. This means that if you forget, you'll show up 1 hour early to class.  (So be mindful or "take a hike", on West Cliff of course!  Hehehe!)  Otherwise, I look forward to seeing my weekend warriors in their full glory for the rest of the month.

With the school year upon us, I'm beginning my Kid's classes again all around town publicly and privately.  I've got a Mommy and Me class dedicated to getting mom back to the practice and baby on the way to posting up, sitting up, and crawling.  The class meets on Tuesdays 10-11am at the Om Room beginning this week October 12th and running through November 30th.  The cost is $80 for the series and $12 drop in.  As well there is a Kid's class (ages 4-9 years) being held as an 8 week series at the Om Room October 13th through December 8th (skip November 24th).  The pricing is the same as above, although, I do need a minimum number of students to attend, and as yet the goal has not been met.  Please either show up for the first class or call to be sure the class will be held (cell 588-4577).

I'm excited to announce that I will be co teaching a retreat to Thailand with Daniella Cotreau in 2005.  We'll be there for seven days and nights of blissful practice and community support in the beautiful southern island of Koh Phangan.  Check out the details and feel free to call (831-588-4577) or email (kate@yogawithkate.com) for further information on how to register.  It promises to be an adventure for all.

Thanks for your continued interest...

Kate

Hello,

I was so pleased to have such a wonderful turnout for the Yoga for Bigger Bodies Workshop last weekend.  There have been some requests in having an ongoing class.  If you are interested, please email me to let me know of times that may work for you, and  I will consider a class to begin in July.

The Yoga at the Lighthouse will begin Tuesday June 1st.  The class is held from 5:30 to 6:30 pm and as the weather varies please wear layers to keep the muscles warm as we stretch.  Feel free to bring any props you may like to use (including a friend for some partner yoga).  See you there!

May 18th, 2004

Namaste!

We had a lot of fun at the Vets Hall (One Yoga Center) this weekend at the Chant and Trance Dance.  Many beautiful yogis practicing and performing.  I'm holding the Yoga for Bigger Bodies Workshop this weekend, so check out the flyer and join us or tell a friend.  I certainly hope you all enjoyed Daniella Cotreau as the substitute on  Sunday May 9th, you'll be seeing her again soon in June.  Please note for all you little Yogis, I'll be discontinuing the Kid's Yoga class at PCC  for the summer schedule, beginning in July.  It's time to get outside and enjoy the fresh air.  Speaking of which, I plan to begin an outdoor yoga class at the Lighthouse Field in June so watch the schedule for Tuesday nights 5:30 to 6:30pm.  The class will be by donation only and will suit all levels.   Come enjoy the sun, surf and smiles as we gather new and familiar friends to the practice.

Be well.

Kate

April 23rd, 2004

It's spring and I'm going into the wilderness to celebrate Earth Day.  I'll be missing my Sunday classes on the 25th and Monica Rudestram will be substituting for me.  Enjoy her light and inspiration.  My regularly scheduled classes will resume on Monday the 26th.  See you then!

Please note I am holding a Workshop Yoga for Bigger Bodies on May 22nd from 3 to 5pm.  Lara Willing and I have collaborated on the class with the intention to provide a supportive place to explore the body for all shapes and sizes.   For those who have avoided classes in the past due to inflexibility or reduced range of motion this may be the perfect stepping stone into a new practice.  Ask for details.

If you are interested in participating in a Restorative Series or Family Retreat this summer please email me as I will plan in accordance to feedback received.

See you soon.

While Vic is on Paternity Leave a few friends have agreed to sub his classes.  I had a fantastic time teaching the level 2 class this evening at 7:30 with a whopping 24 people in the class.  I look forward to teaching tomorrow (Tuesday) 12:30-1:45 level 2 and Wednesday level 1 at that same time.  Tuesday night level 3 class from 5:30 to 7pm should prove to be fun as we step up the intensity.  I look forward to seeing you all soon.

January 15th, 2004

Just a quick update, here are a few items to note:

I will begin taking a Teacher Training with Kofi Busia this weekend.  The year long training will be focused in the Iyengar style and will compliment my current style with greater in depth information and techniques to access the practice.  Thus, I will be occupied one weekend a month for the next year.  The same teachers will be substituting my Sunday morning classes as consistently as possible.  I have chosen Treea Clements for the Vinyasa 2-3 class held @ Om Room 10-11:30am.  She was teaching this class in 2003 and is pleased to be revisiting her old playground.  Chris Roads will be teaching the Hatha 1 class 12-1:15pm.  You can check out his bio on the Om Room website.  They are both excellent teachers, I trust you will be in good hands.

Many apologies for not announcing this sooner, the year seems to be flowing by with such blissful ease and speed I can hardly keep up.  I will be teaching my Restorative class at Yoga Within as usual Sunday 6-7pm, so if you miss me terribly this weekend you can join me there.  Otherwise see you soon!

Namaste.

January 4th, 2004

Happy New Year!

Hope you had fantastic Holiday Festivities.  I was happy to see so many of you continue to practice amidst all of the chaos.  I look forward to seeing those of you who were away, Welcome back.

You may have noticed a few changes in my schedule, I've added two new classes and altered some times.  Please be aware, the Wednesday morning class at the Om Room has been removed while the 12-1:30pm level 2 class at PCC has been rescheduled earlier, 10 -11:30am.  Also take note that the Sunday level 2 class at Om Room has changed to a Vinyasa 2-3.  The new class are over on the East side of town.  The Sunday evening (6-7pm) Restorative class went well this evening.  A wonderful setting for a relaxing class.   As well, please join me Mondays 7:45-9pm for an all level class  at the secluded Bon Repos.  I'm happy to email you directions to the space if are interested.

In order to create a discounted rate for my regular students, I've established a Teacher's Pass to be used at any of the studios on my schedule except PCC.  Some studios vary with the drop in rate charged, but the :Passes will remain consistent throughout.  The prices are as follows: 5 classes for $45 and 10 classes for $80.  Feel free to pay by cash or check and I will keep record of our transactions.

As always thank you for continued support!

Namaste.

Happy Holy Days!

There are many wonderful events taking place this time of year.  It's so important to gather community throughout the dark months in order to fuel the light within.

I am pleased to be involved with such a charitable studio like the Om Room.  We had a fantastic time at the Thanksgiving Day function raising around $800 for the Second Harvest Food Bank.  The classes were playful and well attended by several generous yogis.  Thank you all for making the day special.

Please join us for Game Night on Saturday, December 13th to benefit the Christmas Project.  Please bring at least one Unwrapped gift that can be given to a local child in need.  We'll have fun playing games and socializing with other yogis.  See you there!

Schedule Changes:

The folks at the Pacific Cultural Center will be taking a well deserved break between Christmas and the New Year.  The studio will be closed from Thursday the 25th through Thursday the 1st.  Please note, I have also canceled my Kid's Yoga class on Wednesday the 24th, Christmas Eve.

The final Wednesday 8:45 to 10am class at the Om Room will be held on December 17th.  Thank you to everyone who attended in the past, I'll see you soon at another place and time.

I have added a couple new classes with a few details still to be ironed out.  Please check the schedule for changes, it will be modified on January 1st.  Look for the Monday class at the PCC to switch from 12-1:30pm to 10-11:30am.  Also, I'm starting a new class at a retreat center in Aptos on Monday evenings from 7:45 to 9pm.  This will be an all level class and pricing is: 10$ drop in, 5 classes for 45$ or 10 classes for 80$.  Please ask me for directions to Bon Repos.

I'll continue to sub classes for Allison Gee at Toadal Fitness through the end of the year.  Tuesdays and Thursdays 7:30-8:30am all members are welcome to attend.  See ya there!

Finally, I'll be subbing for Victor Dubin at the Om Room Christmas week:

Monday 22nd from 7:30 to 9pm level 2

Tuesday 23rd from 12:30-1:45pm level 2

Wednesday 24th from 12:30 to 1:45 level 1

Be well.  Namaste.

November 8, 2003

Greetings!

It's good to be home and see all the shining yogis.  Thank you to all of the wonderful teachers who subbed for me.  For those of you who missed Phil Lynch at the Friday class at Om Room, check out one of his classes soon.  We are lucky to have such a powerful yogi to inspire our practice and strengthen our core.

As mentioned earlier, I have started my new classes at the Vets Hall.  Wednesday and Friday mornings 10:45am to 12pm in the large room #23.  The class is listed as a level 1-3 or all level.  Modifications will be given for most poses to intensify or support.  Prices are 5-8$ sliding scale.

Also, I have added a new class  to my schedule at the Om Room.  Sunday mornings 10 to 11:30am, a level 2 class formerly taught by the lovely Treea Clements has been passed to me.  I am pleased to follow in the footsteps of such an excellent teacher.  I look forward to seeing some of you there.  Incidentally, my drop in prices at the Om Room have changed to 12$ and a series of classes can now be purchased at a discounted rate thru me at 5 classes for 45$ or 10 classes for 80$.

I appreciate all the useful information and endearing compliments from those of you who returned an evaluation form to me.  Please feel free to send further comments to me via my Feedback page.

Namaste.

Wow, a busy end to a fantastic summer! Fall is here and we're back to school!

I'm taking this time to continue my work with kids at a few schools and in the studio.  The six week series Kid's Yoga class at the Pacific Cultural Center was so successful the we've decided to continue it on an ongoing basis.  Please check the Kid's Corner for details. As well, if you are interested in having your child's school offer yoga as an elective gym class or even as an after school program, please let me know.

As we approach the Equinox and settle into the fall we are drawn within.  I look forward to seeing those that have been away or absorbed in outdoor activities over the summer months.  I'll continue subbing for teachers who are still traveling around.  Maria's class in particular, at the Vets Hall has been fun.  Located just at the junction on Front St. and Pacific Ave.  The atmosphere is very urban.  They've got all the props and the drop-in

Please take a few minutes to fill out my student evaluation sheet and return

Well things are back to normal here after three weeks of subbing for Victor while he was away.  Welcome back Vic!  It was wonderful to see so many new faces in class.  Hope to meet again!

The kid's classes are splendid!  A few parents have been enjoying dropping their kid's off for class while they attend another at the Pacific Cultural Center, a helpful option for the little ones.  Some of the older students at the Om Room  have been biking to class in the beautiful weather.  Whatever the age, yoga is fun for all, especially the teachers.  We still have three weeks left of both classes so feel free to join us for a drop-in rate of $10 per class.  Check the Kid's Corner for details.  Remember, no class on Wednesday, July 16th at PCC.

I'm moving forward with the Yoga Workshop for Surfers at the Om Room.  I've set the date for Saturday, August 23rd. The class will be held from 3 to 5pm at the cost of $30.  Stay tuned for details or feel free to email me.

We had some fun over the Holiday Weekend selling Thai Fishing Pants at the Saturday Flea Market.   Let me know if you'd like a gander at the colors and textures.  The price is $15 each or 2 for $25.

A few more subbing updates.  This time I'll be helping out the incomparable Kelly Blaser.
